Some days I can’t wait……to sleep comfortably…to sit easily…to balance unconsciously when walking…to see my toes…to wear my favorite, worn, too small t-shirt…to slide on jeans that fit…to lay on my stomach to color…to eat spicy foods without a qualm…to have a belly button again And some days three children all talking at once, laughing at once, screaming at once, crying at once seems like quite a bit to handle on my own. And i think perhaps i’ll miss the small interloper who has taken hold of my body. My perfect little echo-heartbeat, my unjudging sounding board, my source of strength when the jagged edges of my life aren’t quite matching up. And i wonder just how lost i’ll feel when that small warmth is ripped from me and laid in my arms. Some days, i think i may not miss seeing my toes so badly after all

Top Ten Midnight Meals

10. Warm dinner rolls with butter and honey drizzled over them.

9. Chicken Piccata.
(because leftovers with capers are good warm or cold)

8. Omelettes.
Or, in a pinch, scrambled eggs with ham, onions, peppers and cheese mixed in.

7. Quesadillas
(any kind will do…best to avoid the jalapenos just in case…midnight heartburn is a real bitch)

6. Cocoa-Krispies
(as long as you allow time for the milk in the bottom of the bowl to get uber-chocolate-y)

5. Banana Split
(full on, three flavors of ice cream, two bananas, whipped cream, cherry, with sprinkles or just don’t even bother.)

4. French Toast smothered in fried apples topped in powdered sugar

3. Peanut Butter & Jelly Sandwhich
(including layer of potato chip with ridges)

2. Bar-B-Q pulled pork sandwhich

1. Warm crepes with lemon & sugar; quarter folded
